To enhance writing skills and propagate the knowledge about various privacy compliance processes, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Privacy Office is holding a public workshop. The workshop aims to provide in-depth training on the privacy compliance process at DHS, specifically on how to write privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and systems of record notices (SORNs). Interestingly, the workshop scheme also includes a case study that will illustrate a systematic approach to researching, preparing, and writing these documents. Additionally, it will also highlight Official Guidance for the PIAs and SORNs.

The workshop will be held on June 10, 2009, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the auditorium at the DHS Offices, GSA Regional Headquarters, Washington. The colloquium is open to the public and there is no attendance fee. DHS requests the attendees to register in advance to facilitate security requirements of the GSA facility.
