ILRCs Immigrants’ Rights Programs
July 17, 2009 – 8:09 am
As part of its national programs “Defending Immigrants Partnership,” and “Immigrant Justice Network,” the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC), a non-profit immigrants’ rights organization is educating and assisting indigent criminal defenders about immigration consequences of crimes. Through these programs, the ILRC claims, it is trying to build an organized effort to eliminate unjust immigration penalties for immigrants entangled in the criminal justice system and to end the criminalization of immigrant communities through legislative advocacy, public education, outreach, organizing, collaborating and media and messaging.
