U.S-Cuba Meeting on Migration Talks

dos-dimplomacyThe U.S. Department of State (DOS) and Cuba met in Havana on Friday for migration talks to discuss implementation of the U.S.-Cuba Migration Accords, marking the second such meeting since a 2009 decision to renew the negotiations. The discussions mainly focused on how to promote safe, orderly, and legal migration between United States and Cuba.  In the course of meeting, Principle Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Craig Kelly led the U.S. delegation.  The United States views these talks as an avenue to achieve practical, positive results that contribute to the full implementation of the Accords and to the safety of citizens of both countries.
