Iraqi Refugee Processing

U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Department of State (DOS)announced that the process of admitting Iraqi refugees and their resettlement in the United States has been streamlined, while ensuring highest level of security. The DHS and DOS administer this process cooperatively and continue their efforts of resettling vulnerable Iraqis into the U.S. for permanent resettlement in FY 2009. Both DHS and DOS are responsible for managing the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP). Within the DHS, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is responsible for interviewing and adjudicating applications for refugee applicants.
