Profession of Computer Software Engineer: AAOs Interesting Decision

The Administrative Appeals Office (AAO) on October 30, 2009 has delivered a decision that will draw a great attention from U.S. corporations. While adjudicating a second preference employment based immigrant application seeking to permanently employ the advanced degree professional as a senior programmer/analyst, the AAO held that a “Computer Software Engineer” requires at least a bachelor’s degree, but that a degree in a specific field is not necessary according to the Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH). The AAO also noted that alien’s accumulated extensive experience as a computer professional is enough for him to qualify for the aforementioned immigrant category.
