Fear the “Illegal” Monster Criminals who Come to the U.S. to Eat Babies…and take our jobs

Thanks to the valiant efforts of Sheriff Richard Jones the folks living in Butler County, Ohio can feel safe once again.   He explains:

I have taken a very tough stance against illegal immigration and criminal aliens for years. I have gone on record numerous times that criminal alien activity will not be tolerated in Butler County. My office has been very active in that regard. We have broken up some of the largest fake ID rings ever found in Ohio, and possibly the country. I have tried to educate employers about the dangers of hiring illegals, and have even taken out newspaper advertising and used billboards in that educational effort. I have warned employers that we would be coming. Obviously some people did not get the message, or chose to ignore it. Shame on them. To any other employer in Butler County that has hired illegals, or has not taken steps to ensure they have not hired illegals, beware. I don’t believe our job is finished. I expect more of these operations will come.

In response, I do have to say that I also do not support criminals and have no respect for those immigrants who come to the United States in search of an easy buck earned through criminal activity.  However, many of the federal crimes that people who are detained by ICE are guilty of are malum prohibitum – victimless actions that have been designated crimes by our xenophobic society.  I am not sure how I feel about “fake ID rings” – I guess the only victim of that crime is the State.  If identities are stolen then those whose private information has been hijacked are also victims.

But we must ask ourselves:  Why are people committing these “crimes”?  Is it because they want to have fake IDs?  No.  It’s because people want to have the opportunity to work in the United States and be able to send some money back home to their starving families.  I just don’t see anything wrong with that, and as I have recently mentioned, neither do people who use their heads and some common sense – like the Texas Governor Perry.  We do need to regulate who comes to this country for the sake of security, but for the love of God – why are we punishing people for just wanting to have better lives – lets create a system that allows people to come here legally, as I am sure they would rather do that than crawl across a desert.
