CBP Urges Travelers to Obtain I-94 Permits Early to Avoid Delays

In view of upcoming Mexican Holiday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials in San Diego requested Mexican border crossing card (or “laser visa”) holders to obtain the required documents at least a week early instead of waiting until the day of travel. CBP officials are anticipating surge in application for the mandatory I-94 permit during Mexico’s Constitution Day, February 2.
The permits can be obtained 24 hours/day at both the San Ysidro and Otay Mesa ports. Please note that this year permit seekers at both Otay Mesa border crossing and San Ysidro facility will have to travel on-foot to the old port building on the pedestrian walkway just across the across the border.
