DHS Files Lawsuit Against Michigan Company for I-9 Violations

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has filed a lawsuit to recover $41,360 as fine from Detroit based automobile company for I-9 violations discovered during the audit conducted on March 17, 2009. The company is alleged to have failed to complete 94 Form I-9s. The latest action comes as a result of company’s failure to respond to DHS’ Notice of Intent to Fine (NOIF) issued on March 25, 2009 within 30 days. The company now has time until January 11, 2010 to respond.
