EOIR’s Disciplinary Action Against 27 Attorneys

July 31, 2009 – 8:15 am

EOIR LogoIn a loud and clear message to the erring practitioners, the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) has recently taken disciplinary action against 27 attorneys for violations of the Rules of Professional Conduct for immigration practitioners. Six attorneys have been immediately suspended and 21 others received final orders. These disciplinary actions are initiated to inform the public about practitioners who are no longer authorized to represent clients before an immigration tribunal. Attorneys who are suspended or expelled must be reinstated by the BIA before they can resume the practice of law before the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), the immigration courts, and Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
