Sandra Polaski, New Undersecretary for DOL’s International Affairs

The Department of Labor’s (DOL’s) Bureau of International Affairs (ILAB) is all set to have a new leadership at its helm as Secretary Ms. Hilda S. Solis appointed Sandra Polaski as Deputy Undersecretary for its international affairs. While announcing the appointment Ms. Solis said, “Sandra’s extensive experience with labor, employment and trade issues will make her an excellent leader and a great asset to the department.”
Ms. Polaski possesses solid experience in international labor affairs. During her tenure at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, she held positions such as senior associate, and director of the trade, equity, and development program. While working as the Secretary of State’s Special Representative for International Labor Affairs at U.S. Department of State, she integrated labor and employment issues into U.S. Trade and Foreign Policy. She was the lead advisor on labor provisions in the U.S. – Jordan Free Trade Agreement and the U.S. – Cambodia Textile Agreement. She holds two Master of Arts degrees from University of Wisconsin and Johns Hopkins University.
