CBP LogoA large contingent of immigration violators were nabbed by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers during anti-terror operations at ports of entry in El Paso, west Texas, and New Mexico. Nearly 58 people were stopped for immigration related violations during the weekend. Among them, three were arrested on alien smuggling charges for trying to facilitate the illegal entry of some of the violators. An elated Ana Hinojosa, U.S. CBP director of Field Operations in El Paso said, “CBP officers remain vigilant. Their thorough and diligent document exam processes, combined with their interview techniques, help us catch many smugglers and people trying to use false identities to come into the U.S.” During the same weekend, CBP officers also stopped 10 drug smuggling attempts and seized 578 pounds of marijuana. Further, CBP officers also picked up 10 wanted people at area crossings.
