Prison Time and Hefty Fine for Hiring Illegal Immigrants

A high profile immigration raid conducted in March 2007, at a Massachusetts company, by immigration authorities resulted in bursting of a massive immigration racket. The court ordered Michael Bianco Inc., to pay nearly $2 million and the company’s president, Pembroke was sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison, followed by three years of probation. He was also ordered to pay a $30,000 fine for hiring illegal workers, failing to pay them overtime and misleading the government.
Michael Bianco Inc., a leather goods company that won almost $230 million in military contracts over the last five years, has pleaded guilty to 18 counts of knowingly hiring illegal immigrants between 2004 and late 2006.
