Notarial and other routine services are suspended and Consular services for U.S. citizens are restricted to emergency assistance and to citizenship applications (passports and consular reports of birth abroad or CRBA). The Embassy’s visa unit too has deferred all nonimmigrant visa appointments till May 6 and visa appointment schedule between April 27 and May 5 has been rescheduled. Additionally, the U.S. consulates have curtailed some nonimmigrant visa operations until May 6 with a possibility of seeing a limited number of applicants.
Should there be any need to extend the suspension of services beyond stipulated May 6, 2009; the Embassy intends to inform the public as soon as possible. Readers may watch this space for latest updates.
