DOS Opens its Twenty First Domestic Passport Agency in Minneapolis

May 26, 2009 – 8:58 am

dos-fullTo keep pace with growing travelling requirements of American citizens, the Department of State (DOS) has started its twenty-first domestic passport issuance facility in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Located at 212 South Third Avenue in downtown Minneapolis, the new passport agency is established to render in-person passport services to American citizens throughout the North Central border region. The Minneapolis location provides gateway access to Canada and its closeness to a major domestic and international airport will help American citizens with their travel plans. Additionally, the agency caters to U.S. citizens who have urgent/emergency travel needs and has the capability to issue passport books and cards on-site to qualified applicants. With the likelihood of implementing the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) on June 1, 2009, the DOS believes that the new agency will enhance its ability to meet the travel needs of customers hailing from northern border states.
